This is a draft.
It describes how the product actually behaves — the data ownership, offline grace and read-only-after-cancellation clauses are the real behaviour — but it has not been through legal review. Have a solicitor read it before you rely on it.

1. What you are buying

A subscription to use the software. The subscription covers a number of locations and, on each location’s server, a number of businesses, as set out on your plan. Tills are not counted. Adding a location or a business is billed with the plan.

2. Your data

Your business data belongs to you. It is stored on your own computers. We keep an encrypted backup so it can be restored, and we do not sell, share, or mine it. You can export it at any time, including after your subscription ends.

3. Working offline

The software keeps working without an internet connection for a period set on your account, fourteen days by default. It needs to reach us once during setup, and periodically after that to confirm the subscription is current.

4. Payment and trials

Where a plan includes a trial, its length is shown at signup; a card is taken then but not charged until the trial ends. Plans without a trial are charged at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are per month or per year in US dollars.

5. If a payment fails

You keep selling. Paid features lock after a period, and we will contact you. We do not stop a shop from taking money because of a billing problem. Access to new sales ends only if the subscription is terminated after that process, or in the case of a chargeback.

6. If you cancel

The software becomes read-only at the end of the paid period. Nothing is deleted, your history stays available, and you can export it. Resubscribe and everything continues where it left off.

7. Updates

Updates are included, and are delivered whatever the state of your subscription. We do not withhold a fix because of a billing dispute.

8. What we do not promise

The software is provided as-is. We are not liable for lost profits or business interruption. You are responsible for your own hardware, your own network, and for checking that your books are correct.

9. Ending the agreement

You may cancel at any time. We may terminate an account for non-payment after the process in section 5, for a chargeback, or for use that is illegal or that damages the service for others.
